Gold Better Stands Award for the Genexis Booth at Connected Britain

Good news: the exhibition booth we built for Genexis at Connected Britain 2026 has won the Gold Better Stands Award. This is a wonderful recognition for a booth in which sustainability played a role from design through construction.

What is the Better Stands Award?

The Better Stands Award is a recognition from the Better Stands initiative, which focuses on sustainable booth design and construction. The award aligns with Connected Britain’s sustainability goals and the principles of Better Stands. Exhibitors committed to creating a more sustainable trade show booth can receive this recognition, and our Genexis booth received the highest honor: gold. The fact that the initiative is taken seriously in the trade show world is also evident from the recognition Better Stands itself received: in 2026, it won the UFI Sustainable Development Award, the international prize from the global trade show organization UFI.

Why is this award important?

Trade shows have a visible impact: temporary booths that are taken down after just a few days. The Better Stands approach therefore focuses on three things: reducing waste, reusing booth materials, and responsible booth construction practices. It’s great to see that the organizers of Connected Britain take this so seriously and reward exhibitors who participate.

How can you make a trade show booth more sustainable?

Sustainability starts with the design. Here are a few choices that make a difference in practice:

  • Reusing components. Not everything has to be new. With a Cialona booth concept, you purchase the components made specifically for your brand—such as a unique shape or a custom counter—and rent the generic building blocks, like walls, floor panels, and furniture. After the trade show, these are returned to storage and reused. You can read about what this means for costs in our article “How Much Does a Trade Show Booth Cost?”
  • Modular construction. A modular design can be used at multiple trade shows and in various sizes. See also our page on modular booth construction.
  • Less waste during dismantling. A booth that you can take apart and reuse generates less waste than one that’s thrown away after a single trade show.
  • Consciously choose what’s truly necessary. Every component you leave out doesn’t need to be manufactured, transported, or dismantled.

What does this mean for your trade show booth?

Sustainability is no longer an afterthought when participating in a trade show, and it can start right from the design phase. You can read more about how we approach this on our page about sustainable booth design. Curious about what this could mean for your next trade show?
