Durability: Heating with Iron Powder

At Cialona Expo, we are actively committed to sustainability, not only within our own projects, but also by following groundbreaking innovations that contribute to a greener future.

We find a wonderful example of this very close to home in Helmond: the use of iron powder as a CO2-neutral fuel. And the best part? We are part of it!

How does it work?

In Helmond, instead of gas or coal, iron powder is being used to heat homes and businesses –including Cialona — through an innovative heat grid.

The process is almost completely circular: heat and rust are generated during combustion, which are later converted back into new iron powder. This means no CO2 emissions and almost endless reusability.

A homegrown innovation

This revolutionary technology was developed by RIFT, a spin-off of TU Eindhoven, in collaboration with heating company Ennatuurlijk. Helmond leads the world in the use of iron fuel, and we are proud to be associated as a company with this sustainable initiative.

Why iron fuel?

  • No CO2 emissions
  • Fully circular: rust is reused
  • Safe and efficient storage and transportation
  • Ideal for accommodating peaks in heat demand

Building a greener future together

Helmond is taking a huge step towards an emission-free future with this innovation, with the ambition of being completely CO2 neutral by 2040. With attention to the right details, we not only contribute to environmentally conscious business, but inspire others to do the same.

Sustainability, innovation and attention

At Cialona Expo, we believe that progress begins with an eye for attention. We not only work on sustainable solutions within our own projects, but also inspire others to do their part for a greener future.
